Do’s and Dont’s for Website Designing Enthusiasts

Today, we are in an age wherein technology has given us the ability to make programs that are as responsive as ever. Back in the old days, people were satisfied with websites that simply had text, some structures, and some pictures. Nowadays, we have tools (website builder) that can make a website more interactive as to garner more website visitors, as well as loyal followers. If you want to have a cool website of your own, then here are a few tips on how to design a website that is interactive and responsive.

The Do’s of Designing a Website

Know What is a Responsive Design

What exactly is a responsive website? It is a website that gives viewers a very good viewer experience. Everything in this kind of website is perfectly in place and functional. It is also a fast website that doesn’t take long to load. A responsive website is exactly what people are looking for.

Concentrate on Good Visuals

If you want to design a website successfully, good visuals are the key to making a website as attractive as possible. High resolution pictures and videos are a must in a website. It is also good to make use of a good color scheme to make the website as aesthetically appealing as possible. Research shows that the more appealing your website is, the easier it is to garner visitors.

Optimize the Speed Of Your Website

If there’s one thing that people hate, it’s a slow loading website. Most people think that the reason a website loads so slow is because their internet connection is bad. In reality, a big chunk of the reason as to why a website loads slow is because of badly optimized coding and web servers.

In order to remedy this, you have to learn techniques on how to optimize your codes to make your website easier to load on the server. It also helps if you didn’t have too many pages in your website so that your users don’t need to redirect from one page to another too many times. The way to remedy this would be to use Java in coding to help viewers navigate the information faster and more efficiently. Java also allows you to compress data and make easy-to-read codes for faster speed.

Keep It Simple

And the most important step when you design a website would be to keep it simple. Minimalist but visually appealing websites are very much in style and will keep the viewers happy. What’s the use of that extra graphic if that will only confuse and irritate the user, right?

The Dont’s of Designing a Website

Don’t Clutter Your Website

Now that we’ve gone over the do’s of creating a responsive website, let’s go over the dont’s. The cardinal rule of building a website would be to never clutter it up. I’ve said earlier that you should keep it as simple as possible. Don’t jam your website with pictures so that you’ll have a lot of visuals. Keep it to a minimal so that your site won’t be too crowded. Also, don’t jam your website with text. It’ll look really painful to the eyes and simply turn off the viewers. Remember, white space is equally important as the visuals themselves.

Don’t Use Too Many Colors

Another Don’t to observe would be using too many colors. Keep it to just two to three colors in your color scheme. At most, make it four colors in your color scheme but not more than that. Any more and your people might not want to visit your website anymore.

Don’t Make it Hard For Viewers to Find Stuff

Lastly, don’t make things hard to find. Make sure that all the information that they need can be easily navigated. No one will stay long in a website if they cannot find what they are looking for. The best way to address this would be to make the font size of the texts big enough to see and to include a search bar.

When you design a website, always observe these important Do’s and Don’ts. Always remember that your website is supposed to cater your audience and not to you. Give them what they want and they will gladly follow your site.
